Stowaway Intended To Enter Australia
No charges have been brought against a woman who entered the Fiji Airways plane without the knowledge of the authorities and those who carried out the plane's passenger checks in December of last year.
The stowaway in question hid inside the bathroom of the Fiji Airways vessel with the intention of leaving Samoa for Australia.
When the voyage landed in Fiji, a female employee found the woman sleeping in the toilet on the 26th day after Christmas of the previous year 2022.
This lady was brought back to Samoa on the same day her plan was discovered.
The Samoa Police Services have since been investigating the matter, however the Commissioner of the Police, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo in an interview with Eyespy Radio conveyed that the woman is highly likely to be convicted of violating one the country's international travel regulations.
The Commissioner stated that the suspect intended to travel to Australia and when she was questioned by Fiji Airways personnel after she was discovered, she told them that she is an Australian citizen.
It was later discovered that the woman was lying and had fabricated the story of her being a citizen of Australia.
Auapaau also stated that the Police were perplexed by how the female suspect allegedly got past the normal departure processes including immigration, customs and security clearance without being noticed.
Police are still investigating the matter to determine if there are any additional charges to be laid against the defendant.
