'Koko' Market Day event in Samoa, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Scientific Research Organization of Samoa (SROS) as part of the FAO's One Country One Priority (OCOP) initiative, marked a pivotal moment for the country's cocoa industry. Prime Minister Hon. Flame Naomi Mataafa inaugurated the event, which centred on the theme of "Creating Business Opportunities Through Innovation and Development."

It aimed to rejuvenate the cocoa industry by addressing issues such as outdated farming practices, limited value addition, and fluctuating market prices. The event emphasised sustainable farming techniques, post-harvest handling, and diversifying cocoa products to tap into niche markets, boost farmers' incomes, and contribute to Samoa's economic growth. It also highlighted the cultural significance of cocoa in Samoan traditions and daily life.

The 'Koko' Market Day signifies a transformative journey toward revitalising Samoa's cocoa industry, fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic prosperity.
