Samoa receives over 40,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from Australia.
The 40,950 does of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine which arrived on the 24th of April from Australia is in addition to the 70,200 doses delivered in March this year.
The Australian High Commission to Samoa announced the arrival of the vaccine in a Facebook post on Friday afternoon.
The doses of the vaccine were delivered to Samoa through a partnership between the Government of Australia, Government of Samoa, and UNICEF.
“A hearty fa’amalo to the Ministry of Health and people of Samoa for rolling up your sleeves!” said Barry Patterson, the Acting Australian High Commissioner in the Facebook post.
"Covid-19 vaccines remain one of the best tools available to us to protect ourselves and our loved ones against the virus.
"World Immunization Week serves as an important reminder to ensure all your vaccinations are up to date as the best protection for vaccine preventable diseases such as measles, rubella and Hepatitis B."
The arrival of the 40,950 doses of the vaccines brings the total Pfizer vaccine delivery under the partnership to 111,150.
Kresten Stunzner is one of the thousands who are heading to vaccination sites accross Samoa to bet their COVID-19 booster, and he said in the Facebook post that he got his booster shot to keep his family and friends safe.
“With Covid now circulating in our community, we all need to do our part to protect Samoa," Mr. Stunzner said in the Facebook post.
