SEVERE WEATHER AHEAD OF SAMOA
The Samoa Meterology Office is urging the public to adhere severe weather conditions issued in their latest updates. This following heavy rainfall , flood advisory and marine advisory for southern waters.
The announcement was posted around 5am on Wednesday morning this week , with the Samoa Meterology Office validating the advisories they issued.
Potential impacts mentioned by the weather people include poor visibility due to heavy downpour , slippery roads with foggy areas at high ground areas.
"Pool waters near roadsides and waterways , possible landslides" the Samoa Met announced.
"Expect gusty periods during rain. Expect rough seas" the announcement added.
The Samoa Meterology Office also stated that disturbing weather conditions dominates Samoa as the convergence zone is near the south and is joined by the prevailing moist northwest windflow.
"Such conditions provided scattered showers with heavy fall , and gusty periods as experienced throughout the night" stated the announcement.
Predictions by the Samoa Meterology team states the convergence zone will move over the group today and more heavy downpour should be expected by the public.
"More heavy downpour is expected , leading to flooding in prone areas following rough sea conditions for south waters" it explained.
The Heavy Rain Advisory was elevated to a Warning , as for the Flood Advisory and Marine Advisory for southern marine remains in effect for Samoa. The Samoa Meteorology Service will issue another update later on around 5pm.
