‘TAUMEASINA’ 3RD ANNUAL GALA NIGHT 2023: A NIGHT OF GLITZ, GIVING, AND CREATIVITY

The Princessa Hotel Ballroom recently lit up with glitz and glamour as the Taumeasina 3rd Annual Gala Night took centre stage in 2023. This event, organized by the Taumeasina community group, has evolved over the years from humble beginnings into a vibrant and impactful celebration. Founded in 2016 with just a GC, ‘Taumeasina’ has grown in membership and influence, prompting the creation of a dedicated group page to better serve its mission.
The primary objective of Taumeasina is to give back to the community in Samoa through various activities and competitions. These initiatives include the likes of SIVA Samoa challenges, Samoan Costume challenges, and the development of special events for holidays like Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, White Sunday, and Christmas.
One of the highlights of this year's Gala Night was the gracious presence of Miss Samoa Moemoana Safaato’a Schwenke, who played a significant role in the event. She had the honour of presenting Taumeasina's charity donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor Mapuifagalele. Not only that, but she also contributed half of her ‘meaalofa’ (gift), a generous $500 Tala, to support Taumeasina's charitable work. This act of generosity exemplifies the spirit of giving that the Gala Night embodies.
The event was hosted by Velda, who also took a moment to express her heartfelt appreciation for the support she received from Mona Langkilde and Taumeasina. This assistance made her medical treatment journey in New Zealand possible, highlighting the sense of community and care that Taumeasina fosters.
Of course, the Gala Night was not just about giving; it was also about enjoying a memorable evening. Invited guests were treated to a lavish spread of food and drinks. The event included a competition where attendees showcased their creativity and fashion sense, in line with the theme "STANDOUT IN THE CROWD, BE CREATIVE SKY IS THE LIMIT." Four winners emerged from the competition, each receiving cash prizes for their outstanding contributions.
Taumeasina expressed its gratitude to the local business community for their participation and support, and they're already setting their sights on a bigger celebration for the next year.
