Two Adults And A 7 Year Old Attacked At The Savalalo Bus Terminal
She was dropping a family member off at the bus terminal in Savalalo around 2am in the morning, when a man blocked the front of their vehicle and threatened to hurt and rob them.
Tessa Onofia and her 7yo daughter were dropping off a family member at the bus terminal in the early hours of Tuesday this week when suddenly she was approached by a man who she claimed to be in his 20s.
"He stood right in front of our car and was holding two massive stones, threatening to throw them our way.I didn't know what to do," she told EyeSpy Radio in a phone call interview.
"I was dropping my relative to the bus terminal so she could catch the early bus for Mulifanua wharf and head to Savaii" she said.
Mrs Onofia stated they accidently left their home at Lalovaea way too early on Tuesday morning thinking it was almost 4am but it was actually between 1 to 2am at the time.
"My relative had the wrong time on her phone so we left the house at approximately 2am, thinking it was already 3am at the time, hence the rush" she explained.
"We parked at the public parking just opposite the bus terminal at Savalalo and it was just dark, no one to be seen around and we thought the bus hadn't arrived yet, so we waited"..
"I saw a man passing by the fish market area and couldn't tell if he was approaching us or just passing by.But as we waited there , the man got a little closer and I wanted to drive away so I did," she said.
Mrs Onofia said as she was exiting the parking area she noticed from her peripheral view that someone else was approaching their vehicle from the side.
"Another person was there , who came from the side , as I was reversing , he stood in front of us and was holding massive stones, he was fair skinned"...
"My daughter was crying in the car and my elderly relative was scared for her life in the back seat. I panicked and thought I was gonna run him over but I just drove fast" she explained.
The 35yo victim said the man threw one of the stones and it hit her hand at first , she kept driving and then another stone followed hitting her in the face causing scratches and minor bleeding.
"Luckily I drove fast but I was panicking nonstop," she explained.
The mother of 6 told EyeSpy Radio after the commotion they headed straight back to their home in Lalovaea and approached their husband.
"When we arrived home, I asked my husband for the time and he said it was almost 3am" she said.
"That's when I knew we went way too early to the bus terminal," she added.
Mrs Onofia and her family later on visited the police station that morning to describe their bizarre encounter at Savalalo. Apparently she couldn't file a case because she did not remember what the criminals looked like.
"As soon as we told the police, they headed out to the area. Me and my husband ended up travelling to the Mulifanua wharf to drop off my relative" she said.
"The police are currently investigating the matter. I just wanna thank God we didn't get killed or hurt badly , just glad we're alive, thank God " she told EyeSpy.
Tessa Onofia is urging the public to stay aware and be careful around the areas in town during night time or early hours in the morning.
"Please be careful out there , some people are out there to really hurt other people " she concluded.
