SAVAII CENTRE TO RECEIVE $185,862 USD GRANT FROM JAPAN

The University of the South Pacific (U.S.P) in collaboration with the Government of Japan has signed a grant agreement of approximately SAT$493,000  for Japan's Grass Rootd Human Security Projects (GGP).

A signing ceremony was conducted at the USP compound on Tuesday this week to hand over the grant and was attended by representatives of both nations.

The grant will go straight to constructing a new ramp and walkway and other facilities for their centre building within Savaii. 

"It will provide and improve of higher education for USP students in Savaii" stated the Ambassador of Japan to Samoa , H.E Mr Keisuke SENTA.

"We would like to sincerely condone our appreciation for this grant Japan has assisted Samoa"

"Signing of this contract will activate the promise that will elevate education of students in Savaii" the Minister of Education Sports & Culture stated. 

"This is another print of history for Japans assistance to Samoa" stated Seuula Ioane.

The Government of Japan continues to support the assist Samoa with small scale projects and initiatives benefitting at the grass roots level to improve its socio-development of the Independent State of Samoa through its GGP.
