Vaafauese Apelu Maliko Named Into H.S.B.C Hong Kong 7s Dream Team
Following Manu Samoa's amazing campaign at the Cathay-Pacific Hong Kong Sevens last weekend, one of the team's captains, Vaafauese Apelu Maliko has been named into the prestigious tournament's "Dream Team" due to his superhuman performance during the 3-day competition.
Vaafauese Apelu Maliko is the only Manu Samoa player named into the "Dream Team" alongside Maurice Longbottom (AUS), Waisea Nacuqu (FIJ), Henry Hutchinson (AUS), Vuiviwa Naduvalo (FIJ), Josh Turner (AUS), and Aaron Granddier (FRA).
The Manu Samoa co-captain scored 9 tries, and was also named the D.H.L Impact Player of the tournament. During an interview via Facebook Messenger on Tuesday morning, he stated that he is ecstatic to have been named on the dream team.
"I was only able to perform the way I did because of the support of my teammates, they are the ones that should receive the credit," he said. Manu Samoa 7s is currently ranked No.4 on the H.S.B.C Sevens World Series behind Australia, Fiji, and France.
The next leg of the series scheduled for the 2nd of December at Dubai sees Samoa in Pool D together with U.S.A, Canada, and Japan.
