Welcome Back To Samoa Virgin Australia
The first Virgin Australia flight to Samoa in three years gave passengers a warm greeting, and the flight was piloted by a proud Samoan crew.
Brisbane flights will launch on March 23 and Sydney flights to Apia will start today. The airline's Boeing 737-800 aircraft will fly both itineraries up to two times each week.
The all-Samoan cabin crew and first officer gave the visitors a warm welcome. They also gave them a traditional song to listen to during the flight and a traditional welcome when they landed in Apia.
Virgin Australia has started a 72-hour Samoa offer with roundtrip prices starting at $549 to mark the reintroduction of services to Samoa. (Economy Lite).
Alistair Hartley, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Virgin Australia, said that travelers will be happy to see the comeback.
“There is a strong Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) market in Samoa which is why we wanted to mark this occasion with a Samoan crew,” he said.
“It’s an exciting step in the rebuilding of our short-haul international network and comes ahead of our return to Vanuatu later this month.
“Samoa is well-known for its rich culture and friendly locals and has been a popular destination in the Virgin Australia network since 2005.”
Samoa Tourism Authority CEO, Pativaine Petaia-Tevita said: “The return of Virgin Australia flights from Australia to Samoa is wonderful news for the nation, boosting collective efforts to rebuild and recover Samoa’s visitor economy.
Through Brisbane and Sydney, passengers using Samoa services will have great connectivity to the rest of Virgin Australia's domestic and short-haul international network.
