"WHEN I'm IN THE RING , I DON'T WANNA GO 6 ROUNDS'' : ATO PLODZICKI
Heavyweight boxer, Seua'i Ato Plodzicki Faoagali is ready to go face
to face with Apisai Naciqa from Fiji in the first ever professional
boxing tournament called Next Generation Judgment Day International
Boxing Event 2022 happening this coming weekend.
In a press conference on Monday this week , Ato Plodzicki, the
Commonwealth Games silver medalist, confidently told the media that he
wouldn't be expecting more than 4 rounds when he enters that ring on
Friday.
"I'm excited for this fight . When in the ring, I don't want it to
reach the sixth round'' he says.
The keen amatuer boxer has also shared some light on his boxing
partner and ''uso'' Marion Faustino Ah-Tong who will be fighting
against Super WelterWeight Ratu Rakuro of the Fijian Team. Mr.
Faustino Ah Tong also competed in the men's welterweight event in the
2020 Summer Olympics but had points eliminated in his match against
Zambian boxer Stephen Zimba leading to an unfortunate term.
"It was very unfortunate what happened in the Commonwealth games , but
for this fight it'll mean redemption for Tino", stated Ato who spoke
on behalf of Marion Faustino Ah - Tong who is currently travelling
from Australia this week.
The two have been the "Ying & Yang '' partners in their training
according to Ato. Uplifting and encouraging each other and slowly
rising in the boxing arena internationally.
"He pushes me to do my best and do the same for him. It's a great team
we have" says Ato
On the other hand the Fiji Boxing Team have also shared that they are
very keen to go face to face with the Samoan Boxing Team. According to
Cruiser Weight Division boxer Apisa Naciqa , the gent is ready to show
Ato what he is built of.
"I am not here just to participate , I'm also here to win and
represent Fiji" says Mr Naciqa.
Bula boxing promoter and manager for the Fiji Boxing team , Alan
Avinesh Kumar told the media that they've been preparing aswell for
this tournament. He said that his team has been eager and despite them
not saying much , they'll let the ring do most of the talking when
it's time.
"At the end of the day it's just two islanders in that ring ,
showcasing their skills and knowledge" Mr Alan says.
The tournament will kick off this coming Friday at the Gym 2 in
Tournament at 6pm. The highly anticipated match is expected to be
witnessed by many.
Both teams arrived on Saturday last week , with Ato and his team
travelling from Australia and their keen opponents who traveled from
Fiji.
