Woman Charged With Careless Driving
The Samoa Police have charged a 32-year-old woman from the villages of Salelologa and Sapapalii with negligent driving that killed a man who was sleeping on the side of the road last week.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti, according to the police's investigation, this incident occurred at 3 am on Saturday morning.
"A 31-year-old man from Lalomalava was sleeping on the side of the road, when the car ran over him," Papalii said, "this woman has been charged with dangerous driving causing death."
The woman is currently out on bail and is required to sign in at the Tuasivi police station on Wednesdays and Fridays of each week until she appears before court on the 6th of February next year to face the allegations against her.
Papalii also emphasized that the Ministry of Police is continuing its investigation into an accident that also occurred in Safa'atoa Uta, where some children were involved in the incident.
The Commissioner also advised the people of Samoa to stay safe and adhere to all road regulations issued by Police to ensure that Samoa enjoys an accident-free festive season.
