In ensuring that the people of Samoa get access to the best mobile network services within the country, Digicel Samoa launched and unveiled two new cell towers this year located at Lalovaea and Faleaseela. During a press conference held at Digicel's headquarters at the S.N.P.F Plaza on Friday, Chief Executive Officer, Seiuli Deepak Khanna, conveyed that the addition of these two takes the total number of Digicel cell towers in Samoa to 101.

"By adding these two new towers, we're increasing not only our coverage, but also the capacity in the network. That means the usage per customer which was at four years ago 1GB in a month per customer, today we're doing 1GB a day," stated Seiuli.

Seiuli also conveyed that the new cell tower in Faleaseela embodies Digicel's vision of not leaving anyone behind in terms of making sure that all their customers, even those residing in rural communities get the same quality services.

Digicel Samoa’s Chief Technical Officer (C.T.O.) Derek Rasmussen, who together with his team worked hard to erect these cell towers, stated that one of Digicel's strategies is to listen to their customers and their feedback which in turns give them direction.

"We take it (customer feedback) on and then through our management team we look at how to strategically move forward. We have just recently launched these two new towers which takes us over the 100th tower mark, and we hope to continue to grow this in the long term to improve coverage and also to provide the capacity for our customers," he said.

Digicel also celebrated another milestone at the press conference as they were again named "Samoa's fastest mobile network" following certification by OOKLA Speedtest.

OOKLA is the global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights, and is recognized as the highest body in the world which certifies mobile networks globally across all the countries.

Regional C.E.O, Shally Jannif, stated during her keynote address that receiving the OOKLA Award does not mean they have to relax, it means that they have to keep striving to remain the best and the fastest mobile network in Samoa.
