Fanueli To Remain In Custody
In the month of August this year, the police will call witnesses to support the charges of intentional homicide, and other charges such as the possession of a dangerous weapon or a small gun that is not legally allowed, the inflicting serious injuries, and the charge of manslaughter against Edward Fanueli for the death of a police officer Ms. Mele Lapana in December of last year.
The court has set a time to investigate the case, and the accused continues to remain in custody under the supervision of the police, after his request through his lawyer was unsuccessful, to be released on certain conditions. waiting for his trial date.
The police lawyers strongly objected to Fanueli's request for bail, stating that it should not be accepted because Edward Fanueli's security risk is high if he is released due to the seriousness of the crime he is accused of, among other reasons, it is highly likely that he can relate to the police witnesses.
By rejecting the request, the court accepted the evidence from the police which is the basis of the argument that the accused should not be released.
The court is forbidden to publish other details of the investigation or of the request, because some of the main evidence of the police will be presented when all the charges are examined before a panel of judges.
Edward Fanueli was first detained in December of 2022 when the incident occurred that killed the deceased woman.
