In an Official Government public notice released by the Government Press Secretariat this morning further clarification on Lockdown conditions under the current State of Emergency Orders have been made. These conditions became effective from 12.01am, Wednesday 6th April 2022 to 11.59pm Tuesday 19th April, 2022.

Some of the highlighted clarifications include that:

·   ALL exempted businesses under SOE (except Nightclubs, Bars, Fitness Centers and Gaming facilities) are allowed to operate from Monday - Saturday, between 6AM to 2pm "Permitted Hours"; and

·  ALL businesses and workplaces MUST make necessary arrangements to close at a suitable time to allow transport arrangements for employees to go home within the permitted hours;

This comes as several members of the General public expressed concerns and confusion in regards to the conditions, upon returning to work yesterday for the first time since Samoa moved to Alert Level 2.

In regards to Public roads the notice states that “Both Vehicles and people (except children under 12 years old) are only allowed on public roads between the hours of 6am and 2pm and only authorized vehicles and authorized personnel are allowed on public roads outside the permitted hours. “

On Sunday, vehicles and people are permitted on the roads for the purposes of attending church. However, other than for Church services which are permitted between the hours of 6am – 2pm, no businesses or other public gatherings are permitted on Sundays.

The public is also respectfully advised again that no more than 15 people are permitted in public gatherings, except for church services and funerals where 30 people are permitted.

Children under 12 years old are also prohibited from any public places, including public transport, except for when they are being taken to get their vaccinations.

Lastly, the notice also advises the public that The Samoa Police Service will be conducting roadblocks outside of the permitted hours.
