Kosena Lelepa Eli who hails from the village of Lelepa in Savaii
dedicates her academic achievement to her late father Lelepa Eli.

The 19 year old in tears of joy expressed the journey of surviving the
first step in Foundation Year and her academic journey without her
heroic father.

Despite the pouring rain on Thursday this week at the NUS Gym , it
didn't stop families , friends and loved ones from celebrating the
achievements of students who graduated in various areas of studies. As
some graduates celebrate with their parents and loved ones at the
graduation ,some students had the support of uncles and aunties
present to celebrate with them.

In an interview with Eye Spy Radio , Kosena shared how strenuous her
journey was in school when she lost her father to colon cancer back in
2019. The journey wasn't very easy for the aspiring entrepreneur , but
she managed to complete her courses through College level and has now
completed her first year in Uni.

"This is the start of a new journey and I am very excited to be a part
of it. It'll be tough but God is the pillar of our breakthrough in
sweet success."she told EyeSpy Radio.

Ms Eli shared how she had wished her late father was a part of it all
and that he was present to see her come this far. "I wish he was here
with us , and to see me walk and receive my certificate." she said.

She stated that despite not topping any course or field, she is content
with completing yet another year of education. "I'm just happy I made
it through, trying was better than giving up" she said.

"There were times when I wanted to quit very badly and couldn't carry
on with school, but I had to keep going. My dad was my hero and he has
done absolutely everything in his power to get me to have a proper
education despite everything" she added.

Her mother Shalom Eli stated that it has been a relief seeing her
daughter up there growing everyday. She expressed how grateful she was
to see Kosena take all the obstacles that headed her way and turned it
into success.

"She has always been that way, there have always been challenging
times we have come across but at the end of every year there's always
bright smiles because of something she has achieved in school" Shalom
told Eye Spy Radio

She also stated that she wished that her late husband Lelepa Eli was
present to celebrate this moment with his daughter."It's been tough
but the Lord has always reserved a space for us to feel happiness and
joy" she stated.

Kosena Lelepa Eli has graduated with a Certificate of Foundation in
Arts and has dedicated her achievement to her late father. She hopes
for brighter days ahead and more levels of school to complete.

"I am not alone and I know alot of us have been among alot of
challenges for the past few years. I guess it's just a sign of the
times" she said.
