Heavy Rain Warning, Flood Wind and Marine Advisory Issued

Route at Fagaloa with trees and possible landslides expected.

Updates from both the Land & Transport Authority (L.T.A) and Samoa Meteorology Office have warned the public to take extra precautions as hazardous effects of today's weather conditions can be harmful and threatening. "Please drive with caution" the L.T.A said.


Samoa still faces heavy rainfall and possible flooding conditions according to latest updates by the Samoa Meteorology Office in Mulinuu. In a public announcement issued at 5am on Wednesday this week , the Samoa Met team have advised the public to keep an eye out on hazardous conditions


"Strong group of wind and heavy rain is expected to move over Samoa from the East to the West side of the country" stated the announcement.


The Samoa Meteorology Office also stated that these conditions will remain until Friday night this week. In addition to the nonstop rain , windy conditions are also expected which according to the weather experts will become stronger over time.


As of today , the Land & Transport Authority updated in a Social Media announcement on areas close to The Mafa (Valley) next to Fagaloa, where road obstruction has been caused by trees falling and landslides onto the streets. Footage that was uploaded by the authorities on Facebook showed road blocks around the area , and they have advised the public who are travelling through that route to "drive safely" as it is dangerous.

The Samoa Meteorology Office advised the public on side effects to expect from these conditions including slippery roads in highlands , coastal area flooding , strong wind blows and also foggy conditions in highlands and for Samoa.
