LADY SAMOA IV LAUNCHED

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa about to cut the
ceremonial ribbon to officially open MV Lady Samoa IV vessel

The new MV Lady Samoa IV from Japan was officially launched on Tuesday this week and will be servicing the Apia and Pago Pago American Samoa route.

The new vessel was launched by officials from the Samoa Port Authority
(SPA) and the Ministry of Works Transport and Infrastructure together
with officials from the Japan Government. Prime Minister Fiame Naomi
Mata'afa was also present at the launching to ceremonially cut the
ribbon.

Mr. Senta Keisuke who spoke on behalf of the Government of Japan
shared the significance of this grant and their relationship with
Samoa.

"I am very happy to see the MV Lady Samoa 4 dock here in Apia, as it
is a milestone to the friendship of Samoa and Japan" states Mr.Keisuke

Olo Fiti Vaai the Minister of Works Transport and Infrastructure spoke
at the ceremony acknowledging the Government of Japan Shipping Company
for the prestigious grant aid of the MV Lady Samoa 4 vessel and
declared the importance it will be for the people of Samoa.

" I wish to extend our heart-felt appreciation and thanks to Captain ,
Chief Engineer , Japan crew and the Samoa crew for their vision in
bringing this dream into life" states Olo Viti Vaai during his
remarks.

The ceremony was attended by several government officials from
Ministers , ACEOs to CEO and General Managers of Government Ministries
to engineers and vessel crew members to witness the official opening.

The vessel itself consists of three decks , from air conditioning
rooms for passengers to VIP special rooms. There are special freezers
to ensure food and beverages maintenance were secured during its
travel.
