Toa Samoa Parade in Melbourne end in tragedy

A parade to celebrate Toa Samoa's victory against France held by fans in Melbourne went terribly wrong, when a 17-year-old girl was hospitalized after she fell from a moving vehicle during the celebration.

Two men have been apprehended by the Victoria Police Department over the incident, according to a report on Australia's Channel 9 News. The two individuals who've been arrested include a 21-year-old man from Braybrook, and another 21-year-old from Caroline Springs. Police have also seized the vehicle involved in the accident.


The Braybrook man has been charged with a range of offences , including dangerous driving causing serious injury. The Caroline Springs man has been charged with reckless conduct leading to a serious injury and driving in a dangerous manner. A 20-year-old Sunshine man has also spoken to detectives and is expected to be charged with traffic offences.

The victim of the incident is said to have been on top of a Cooper sedan together with friends as the vehicle was being driven around Davies Street in Altona following the Toa Samoa's win at the Rugby League World Cup last Monday.

It was reported by Channel 9 News that the 17-year-old was one of hundreds of Toa Samoa's supporters who gathered at the esplanade in Altona on Monday night.

The 17-year-old is believed to have fallen off of the moving car when it turned at a corner. She fell and struck her head and was left bleeding on the ground before she was taken to the hospital because she had sustained critical injuries due to the fall.

The report by Channel 9 News also mentioned that there was another individual who was also taken to the hospital following injuries from the same incident.
