The Samoa Police Prisons and Corrections Services have arrested and charged a 41-year-old man with possession of marijuana and narcotics. In a statement issued by Samoa Police on their official Facebook page on Sunday (yesterday), it mentioned that the main Police outpost in Savai'i was informed about the suspect allegedly selling marijuana.

The statement also stated that Police came upon the suspect's car on the road and he was then brought in for interrogation.

"The suspect's vehicle was thoroughly searched whereupon eight small packets of marijuana were discovered along with ten marijuana seeds, utensils, a Samsung A12 cell phone, one 12-gauge bullet and cash amounting to $1258.70."

The suspect is currently being remanded in Police custody until he appears before court on the 6th of February to face the charges laid against him.

During the past few days Samoa Police successfully executed a raid in the village of Tulaele and arrested a man with previous narcotics convictions, after methamphetamine utensils and scales were found in his home.

In an interview with the Commissioner of  Samoa Police, Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo, he stated that the suspect has a history of convictions involving methamphetamine and had always been under the surveillance of police.

On Friday evening officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit and Tactical Operation Unit within the Ministry of Police Prisons and Corrections Services executed a search warrant on a property in Tulaele.

The Commissioner stated that Police did not find meth during the search, only the paraphernalia that is known to be associated with the drug. The suspect has since been taken into custody for questioning with the Police continuing their investigations into the matter.

Auapa'au stated that more information will become available as soon as the investigation is complete.
