The Ministry of Commerce Industry & Labour (M.C.I.L) has announced the
national holiday dates for Samoa this end of the year. Samoa is set to
ease for 6 Public Holidays , 3 of each for New Years around Christmas
time this month.
In an advisory posted on their Social Media platform , it stated that
if businesses choose to open during any of the public holidays , it
should go accordingly with the Public Holidays Act initiated back in
2008. The Ministry has also guided the public to ensure they act in
accordance with relevant provisions under the Labour & Employment Act
2013 regarding the paying of employees on Public Holiday pay.
There are three holiday dates set out for Christmas this year , they
are Sunday 25th to Tuesday 27th of December 2022. Holidays have fallen
right around the period of weekends for Samoa. As for the dates set
out for its New Years 2023 holiday , Samoa is set to recess for 3 days
also from Sunday 1st January (New Years Day) to Tuesday the 3rd of Jan
next year.
