Lady Samoa IV Finally Home.

The new MV Lady Samoa IV passenger boat that was funded by the Government of Japan has arrived at the Matautu dock replacing the old MV Lady Naomi. The vessel cost $66.74 million in total and will be
servicing between Apia and Pago Pago , American Samoa.

The Samoa Shipping Corporation will be managing the new passenger vessel , which was expected to arrive in September this year.

Hon Minister of MWTI Afioga Olo Afoa Vaai and General Manager for Samoa Shipping Corporation Leiataua Samuel Phineas were present to welcome home the new Lady Samoa IV.

Due to the US Coast Guard conditions it arrived later than expected. This was
confirmed by Samoa Shipping Corporation General Manager Leiataua Samuel Phineas .

When the MV Lady Samoa IV was still in Japan ,Setoda Shipyard in Hiroshima the vessel underwent mechanical adjustments to meet the US Coast Guard requirements to ensure it was fully equipped so it could enter Samoa.

The new Lady Samoa IV will be replacing the old Lady Naomi.

A legal requirement was acquired for sail approval according to the U.S Coast Guard and federal statutes.

The Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure Olo Afoa Vaai was there to witness the arrival of the Lady Samoa IV and also the Samoa Shipping Corporation GM Leiataua Samuel Phineas on Thursday evening this week.

The new passenger vessel is about 48metres in length, boasts an international gross tonnage of 1,130 tons and capacity of 297 (280 passengers and 17 crew).When launched in Japan the vessel was
christened MV Lady Samoa IV.
