URGENT HEALTH ADVISORY: COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOTS AND PREVENTATIVE MEASURES AMID RISING INFECTIONS
All Health Restrictions Nixed; Filipino Traveler Recounts “Trauma” Of Being Denied Entry At Faleolo
A business owner says the decision to nix all health restrictions and fully open Samoa’s borders to travelers is “good news” after an employee from the Philippines was denied entry at Faleolo International Airport early this month.
Effective Thursday, 22 September, travelers to Samoa are no longer required to meet stringent health restrictions that were part of Samoa’s travel advisory meant to safeguard the country from the COVID-19 virus and its variants.
TOTAL NUMBER OF COVID-19 RELATED DEATHS RISES TO 19
As at 2pm local time on 28th April, 2022, there were 11 patients reported to be in managed isolation, and 1 patient in the Intensive Care Unit at Moto’otua Hospital.
Sadly, the Ministry of Health also reported 3 new COVID-19 related deaths in the 48 hours.
Booster numbers doubled over the week
The new update comes 7 days after the previous report from M.O.H on April 1st, 2022, in which Samoa had administered a total 339,214 doses of the COVID vaccines, at the time. In the past week a further 2.6% of the eligible population have since received their second dose.
The recent mass vaccination program is also proving successful with an additional 25,312 people aged 18 years and over also receiving their booster shoots so far.
